The book as a talisman is a wonderful thing. Not only does it do the job of imparting insight to the reader, but as a magical object, the book serves to strengthen a specific awareness.

My talismanic books either function as grimoires, that is to say, as books of subtle magical instruction, or as instruments for rituals.

The books listed here are all part of a limited edition. They are handcrafted, signed, and numbered.

Here is a small selection. For more choices, visit EyeCorner Press, the special edition section.

Threads

Taking my point of departure in a simple draw of cards, in this book I demonstrate the essence of my cartomantic signature based on the imperative to read like the Devil. A 3-card draw, its mirror, and two readings of follow-up questions is all it takes for a whole philosophy and practice of reading cards to unfold.

This book comes in two editions: an unlimited paperback edition available from all online stores and a limited edition paperback of 37 copies that’s crafted as a talisman.

In this form, the paperback book features handmade thread stitches on the last page that end in a knot holding a hag stone. The edges are dusted with red dust.

The book comes enclosed in a jacket made of Japanese suminagashi paper that has also been threaded with red thread. This edition is signed and numbered.

Andromalius

The focus of this book is Andromalius, the 72nd demon in the Goetia, and how he functions as a mirror of Lucifer himself. In the process of illustrating the Lucifer/Andromalius entanglement, I tells stories about how Andromalius fares when dispatched to perform over and above what the Goetia prescribes.

As the chief function of the demon Andromalius is to find treasure, the idea with the sigilized maps that accompany the book is to enable the bearer of this talisman to find treasure. Nothing more, nothing less. As each map is unique, the calligraphic X that marks the spot further carries a bibliomantic significance. The collector in possession of this talisman must think of the connection between what Andromalius does under conjuration as a matter of expectation and how this may relate to the geography of the place on the map. What kind of treasure can manifest out of this connection?

This book is limited to 144 copies divided into in two editions: 72 copies come with a map, that is now sold out, and 72 copies with the Devil card from the unique Carolus Zoya Marseille Tarot. Tarot for Romeo and Juliet

This book is about the tension between how singular the manifestation of love is and what we assume, often wrongly, about the idea of togetherness. To know the difference means to know the heart of the other. To know the heart of man is, in fact, the highest, sages and artists tell us. But who has this gift? Lovers do. Lovers share a passion that exceeds common understanding, and yet their acting on it can be fraught.

Juliet’s Talisman here features magic for love in the form of the 7-pointed star, or Venus’ heptagram drenched in attar of roses.

What you get with Juliet’s talisman is the signed and numbered silk hardback book plus the heptagram designed to capture love in a cup. The ‘cup’ has been ritually infused with rose attar of the finest quality. The rose attar leaves a trace on the paper in the form of ghostly figures. Each exudes a power all its own. Put this talisman in your pocket and experience attracting love or the other whom you love.

The talisman is printed on Japanese paper in square format (90 x 90 mm).

Being Besides Myself

This book itself is a spell and as a talisman. In other words, a grimoire. Gelatin silver prints developed in my darkroom prompt reflections on sensuality and magic. It’s not only about what you hear, taste, smell, see, and touch – the name of the individual chapters in the book. It’s about how you do it. But there’s no instruction. Who can teach others how to sense the world? The only thing you can say is that in this sensing, what you experience is the astonishment of realizing that you’re always besides yourself when you eat, see things, touch others, smell a flower, or hear music.

Sensing the world is similar to the power of being in love, when you’re besides yourself. When in love, you’re beyond time. If you speak at all, then your words hit the other in their gut, displacing their common sense. The effect is like a powerful witchcraft. It makes you snap out of your cultural conditioning, and start seeing things as they are.

Get this book of photographs and fragments and an exclusive gelatin silver print featured in the book. I will choose the image according to my own good senses, so be prepared to be surprised.
