21 sets of natural powers: mullein and malurt, one English name and one Danish for verbascum densiflorum and artemisia absinthium, respectively. Then there’s frankincense and rose. Let’s have a look:

Variations with an added surprise:

  • 8 sets of two 30 ml ointment jars containing oils of mullein and wormwood + a sigil.

  • 10 sets of two 30 ml ointment jars containing oils of mullein and wormwood + a 5 ml jar rose lip balm + a sigil.

  • 3 sets of one 30 ml ointment jar containing oil of mullein + a 5 ml jar of frankincense solid perfume + a sigil.

Already in January I sank a whole lot of wormwood into almond oil – the best kind. Then, in February I did the same with mullein, though this time around I chose olive oil and sunflower oil as the carrier.

Then the big magic. When Jupiter was cazimi on May 18, in the bosom of the sun, which is a very good place to be in, I pressed my oils and finalized the blends. I added to them frankincense oil, also my own infusion, and a shot of castor oil. A few more drops of Omani frankincense were also added to the blend, and then left to sit. When the Moon was full, I made my ointments using beeswax – also the best around – and scribbled sigils.

Now why all this? Because working with the magical properties of the plants, in addition to what we know of in terms of their medicinal benefits, enhances our appreciation of the nuances in power that our dear nature is capable of. Let’s see, briefly, what folk magic has to say about these two:

  • Mullein is ruled by Saturn, the greater malefic, good for divination, health, love, courage, and exorcism.

  • Wormwood is ruled by Mars, the lesser malefic, good for dreams, psychic divination, protection, and exorcism.

The added surprises, a lip balm and a solid perfume composed around rose and frankincense.

  • Rose is ruled by Venus, the lesser benefic, good for attracting beauty.

  • Frankincense is ruled by the Sun, our life force, good for vitality and clarity.

Wear either of them on yourself, mullein or wormwood, rose or frankincense, for instance by anointing yourself with my magic here, and no evil sorcery will ever reach you. This will be the case also if you’re Zen and maintain no beliefs, or if you’re an atheist, scientist, or a regular skeptic, who is not even curious. But as direct experience rules, try this magic, and judge for yourself.

Meanwhile, even as just a story, I like the idea of an ointment that lends me power in all its facetted forms. My alchemical offerings come in limited editions. This is because I make all of this for myself. If I happen to have more than I need for myself, I share the surplus.

Grab a set of nuanced powers, as enhanced by Jupiter cazimi sigils on the beautiful Carolus Zoya cards, and test the magic on yourself. In addition to the magical properties of these ointments, what they are also good for is medicinal use. Mullein is good against ear infections. Wormwood is good against arthritis and many other forms of inflammations. The same anti-inflammatory properties applies to frankincense, whereas the rose brings eros and moisture to your lips.

The surprise

In addition to the main offering here, I’ve added a rose balm and a frankincense solid perfume as a company.

The rose lip balm is built around several types of roses from my own garden. In addition to the sweet almond oil base I used for the cold infusion, I’ve added a dash of velvety sandalwood rose and vetiver attars, clary sage, myrrh, and hibiscus.

The frankincense solid perfume has a high concentration of natural scents, consisting of Omani frankincense, Indian frankincense, Mysore sandalwood, Somali myrrh, Turkish rose absolute, French clary sage, Himalayan cedar wood, Italian pink grapefruit, Brazilian rosewood, and Italian bergamot.

In addition to its divine scent, the purpose of the solid perfume is to enhance your Gemini season with the gift of heightened awareness, clarity, and vitality. As for the Venusian lip balm, just ask someone to kiss you…

As per Jupiter cazimi that makes an offer multiply, so with my extras here. The main pair of ointments became three variations on olfactory experience.

As mentioned already, all the ointments are made by myself under enchanted circumstances, meaning, the observance of planetary movements and following grimoire knowledge.

I hope you enjoy this occasioned offering, as I put a lot of magical work into it.

What they said

‘What the hell did you put in the mullein balm? I started putting it on this evening and ended up almost in a dance performance.’ – Nebojsa Savic, Holland
