Calligraphy grimoire
We are all in a hurry. We strive to make things happen all the time, because, granted, as some sages said, nothing happens until something moves. But what motivates these moves, our movements? I ask this question often. When I do, I feel the urge to sit down and stop hurrying. I put pen to paper to think about it, or to become aware. The art of calligraphy is make us aware of the opposite of hurrying and what this opposite gives us.
I create small calligraphy books, or, to be more precise, small grimoires, with this in mind. What happens when we stop hurrying? What do we become aware of? What might you think, or rather, experience, if you were to sit with a few pages that are made on your request for peace of mind?
Try one of these unique and custom handmade books. If you order one, I’ll assemble about 10 folded or stitched pages together and fill them them with my writing. Some pages will feature glyphs. Others a haiku. The idea is to experience slowing down and just breathing.
The materials I use for these art books are anything from Japanese vintage paper to boiled sheets, ink and tea toned sheets to scraps of pages from math books or my books. The featured examples have all sold out, but the images here will give you an idea of what you can expect.
At check out, kindly describe in the popup box what you’d like this book to achieve for you, and I’ll encode the proper talismanic mojo into its design.
