The childless witch

$45.00

‘Don’t have any children,’ my mother said, in response to the question: ‘what’s your greatest wisdom?’ posed to me when she was 10. Forty years down the road this book springs out of investigating just what this wisdom is all about. The book thus offers reflections on the state of being childless. My own experiences blend in with my analysis of childless artists and the part of their work that mirrors particularly the significance of being childless.

In this book, either via personal encounters or across the arts, we meet drummer Zohar Fresco, butoh dancer Carlotta Ikeda, opera singer Maria Callas as Medea through Pier Paolo Passolini’s lens, and filmmaker Maya Deren.

At the heart of the book is a simple investigation: Who poses true questions? The figure of the witch holds an interesting answer.

THE SPECIAL OFFER

While this book is available from all online stores, what you get here is a signed copy and a print that features a witch installation in the small beach town where I live in Agger, Denmark. As this whole setup inspired the cover of my book, this very image that I shot myself also being part of the book, I thought I’d offer it here as a print on handmade Japanese paper with view to functioning as a magical talisman. The print carries my stamp signature in the form of my own design and hand carving used for magical calligraphy.
